After ten years, I figured we’d never hear another Avalanches album. And that’s okay; Since I Left You exists in a perfect bubble, a lunatic gem unlike anything else. It’s a rare album that sits on many a critic’s list and actually deserves the acclaim.
Still, Pitchfork have this here, and I’m actually quite happy about it. Admittedly albums with such epic gestation periods often end up being crushingly disappointing and overwhelmingly shit, but I think I can allow myself a glimmer of hope.
The promo for Since I Left You remains as delightful as ever; if you can get to the end with dry eyes, you’re a heartless monster.
